Brian Cain

Brian Cain

Brian Cain is a Witch and High Priest of the Alexandrian Tradition and author of Initiation Into Witchcraft and The Religion of Witchcraft. A devotee of British Traditional Witchcraft since his early teens, he was first initiated in 1994 and today serves as High Priest of the New Orleans Coven, the only practicing Alexandrian coven in Louisiana. He maintains strong ties to the magical roots of Witchcraft in the United Kingdom and follows the teachings of Alex and Maxine Sanders. In his writings, Brian traces the thread that runs from the Mystery Cults of Alexandria to the Craft today, noting that the priesthood of Isis practiced healing, magic, nocturnal gatherings, and three degrees of initiation—practices that echo in British Traditional Witchcraft to this day. As he writes, "Modern Witchcraft is as intimately intertwined with the veil of Isis as it is with either Celtic or Saxon beliefs." With his husband, Christian Day, he co-hosts HexFest in New Orleans and Festival of the Dead in Salem, and together they own the Hex and Omen Witchcraft shops and founded Warlock Press.

Christian Day

Christian Day is a modern-day Warlock living in the Crescent City of New Orleans. A dedicated practitioner of the Craft, he blends the priesthood of the old Gods with the magic of folk Witchery, healing, and spirit work. He is the author of The Witches' Book of the Dead, a grimoire of necromantic practice that draws upon traditions stretching back to ancient Egypt—which he calls "the wellspring of much of the magic and mystery that form the foundation of the practices of modern Witchcraft." Christian writes of the Festival of the Valley, when the people of Thebes would cross the Nile in a grand procession to dine with their ancestors and receive their blessings—rites that live on in our own Dumb Suppers and ancestor work today. With his husband, Brian Cain, he owns HEX: Old World Witchery in Salem and New Orleans, and together they created HexFest and Festival of the Dead. His insights into Witchcraft and the spirit world have been featured on Discovery, Showtime, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, and The Boston Globe.

Hala Aly

Hala Aly was born in Egypt and received her degree in Egyptology from the American University in Cairo. She considers the 42 Negative Confessions of Ma'at to be the basis of her own beliefs, keeping her deeply tied to the spiritual roots of her homeland. For Hala, the temples are not archaeological sites but living places of power, and she approaches them with the reverence of one who understands that the old gods never truly departed this Earth. Where other guides see ruins, Hala sees sanctuaries still humming with the presence of Isis, Osiris, Hathor, and Horus. She knows the hidden corners, the sacred crypts, and the stories that tourists never hear—because she has spent her life walking these halls not as a scholar alone, but as a daughter of the land that gave birth to the Mysteries. She is a professional tour guide and organizer of journeys off the beaten path in Egypt, crafting experiences for those who seek something deeper than photographs and timelines. She personally led Brian and Christian through some of the most powerful magical sites in Egypt, and now she opens those doors for you.
